The Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic by his decree No. 63/2006 (Digest) of 7 February 2006 announced the elections to the municipal self-government bodies. He stipulated the day of elections for Friday, 2 December 2006. The elections shall be held in line with the Act No. 346/1990 (Coll.) on local elections with subsequent amendments.
