In line with the Act on state statistics as amended No. 540/2001 (Coll.), Article 9, the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic ensures the organizational, personal and technical conditions and software for the processing of the results of elections and referenda carried out under special laws.
The processing of results of elections and referenda is carried out by the cooperation of the Statistical Office, the State Commission for Elections and Control of Financing of Political Parties (hereafter the State Commission) and the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic. The Statistical Office with the agreement of the Ministry of Interior issues methodology instruction for processing of results of elections and referenda. Furthermore, the Statistical Office ensures the verification and counting process and on the instruction of the State Commission publishes the results on the website.
As of July 1st 2015 all elections and referenda are held in line with the Act on Conditions of the Exercise of Voting Rights and on amendments to certain laws No 180/2014 Coll. with the exception of new elections to the bodies of communal self-government held between years 2014 and 2018. The new elections are carried under the Act No 346/1990.
